1. Self-Introduction
Q. Please introduce yourself briefly. How did you decide to start hosting?
A. Hello, my name is Bella, and I run Bella Stay. I currently work in Yeouido, and I decided to start hosting because I wanted to build a space that would stand out in quality. I once considered buying an existing goshiwon, but I thought creating a premium version myself would give tenants a better living experience. That’s how Bella Stay began.
2. The Beginning
Q. When you first decided to operate a space, what expectations and worries did you have?
A. At first, I was worried about whether all 28 rooms could be filled and whether I could meet the many different needs of tenants. But once the facilities were built and ready, I found that the room size and quality were strong enough to attract tenants right away.
3. Daily Life as a Host
Q. What are some of the regular tasks you do as a host? Were there any unexpected situations or memorable moments?
A. A cleaning company comes three times a week, and I personally visit on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays to restock small essentials like instant noodles, rice bowls, and cereal. For new tenants, I wash and prepare fresh mattress covers myself.
One memorable moment was when a French guest asked about the water dripping from the air conditioner hose. It was something I had never thought about before, and none of my Korean tenants had asked. It felt refreshing to see that curiosity.
4. Hosting Foreign Guests
Q. How has it been welcoming foreign guests? Have you had any special experiences due to language or cultural differences? Anything you’d like to share with foreign tenants?
A. I don’t often meet all foreign tenants directly, but overall, they respect the rules and keep their rooms clean, so there aren’t many difficulties. Sometimes there are late-night phone calls, but when I send a polite message, they always understand and adjust quickly.
To my foreign guests, I’d like to share the story behind the name Bella Stay. “Bella” means “beautiful,” and my wife and I wanted to create a space that feels like a beautiful and comfortable home. We hope everyone who stays here feels at ease and creates happy memories in Korea.
5. Looking Ahead
Q. How would you like your stay to be remembered by tenants? Do you have any new plans for the future?
A. I hope Bella Stay is remembered as a safe and comfortable home in Korea. Looking ahead, I’d like to expand the facilities further and introduce smart technologies to improve convenience and management.
